Updates on The Bentway (formerly Project: Under Gardiner)

In June, Waterfront Toronto announced that The Bentway was the clear winner of the run-off vote in our city-wide Project: Under Gardiner naming campaign. It’s a name that celebrates "the bents" – the column-and-beam structures that frame the spaces of what will soon become a vibrant urban trail. Today, The Bentway launches its new website at thebentway.ca.



Waterfront Toronto Releases Due Diligence Report on Port Lands Flood Protection

Waterfront Toronto today released an extensive Due Diligence Report on the proposed Port Lands Flood Protection Project. The Report provides greater certainty on the cost estimate, schedule and risks associated with the proposal to naturalize the mouth of the Don River, provide flood protection to the area and unlock significant economic development potential.

Waterfront Toronto to receive $65 million in tri-government funding through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund

Today, the governments of Canada and Ontario announced a bilateral agreement that will make more than $1.1 billion in combined infrastructure funding available under the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. The federal government is providing up to 50% of this funding for projects while the provincial government and municipalities will cover the remaining costs.

The Bentway is the Winner of the Project Under Gardiner Naming Campaign

Over the four-day run-off vote, 1,333 valid votes were cast; the Bentway had 845 votes, while the Artery had 488 votes. The winning name celebrates "the bents", the column-and-beam structures that frame the space under the Gardiner Expressway.
