We Want Your Feedback on These Design Proposals for the Ferry Terminal!

The design competition for the Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park moves to the next stage on Monday, March 16. The design teams will make public presentations of their proposals and we’ll have them on display at City Hall.

The five shortlisted design teams selected to participate in the Innovative Design Competition for the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park are ready to present their bold and innovative ideas to the public. The teams will come together on Monday, March 16 at Toronto City Hall in the Rotunda to present their inspiring visions that will transform the Ferry Terminal and Harbour Square Park.

The five design proposals will be on display in the Rotunda at Toronto City Hall from March 16 to March 20, 2015. Members of the

public are welcome to view the exhibition and provide feedback beginning at 12:00 p.m. on March 16. The exhibition will be open from

7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m from March 17 to March 19, but will close at 5:00 p.m. on March 20.

Public feedback will also be collected through an online tool during this period. You can access the online feedback form as of March 16 – so stay tuned to the Project Page on our website, our Facebook and Twitter pages for the direct link. Public feedback will be summarized into a report and given to the jury – a group of distinguished art design professionals – to assist them in their evaluations of the five submissions.

All five design proposals will be on exhibition in Toronto City Hall’s Rotunda from March 16 to March 20. Members of the public are welcome to view the exhibition between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Public Transit

You can take the Yonge Subway Line to Queen or Dundas station or the University/Spadina Subway Line to St. Patrick or Osgoode station. You can also take the #6 Bay bus to Queen Street West, #501 or #502 Queen streetcar to Bay Street, or the #505 Dundas streetcar to Bay Street.

Parking

Paid parking is available at City Hall. You can enter the parking garage at Bay Street, just north of Queen on the west side or at Queen Street, just west of Bay Street on the north side.

Accessibility:

Accessible entrances and ramps

The primary accessible entrance to Toronto City Hall is the Hagerman Street entrance (north entrance).

There is a fully accessible ramp and the entry hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you are arriving outside these hours please use the intercom to contact the Security Desk for access. See map for location.

The alternative accessible entrance is through the City Hall main centre doors from 7:30a.m. to 9:30p.m.

There are also two fully accessible ramps located along Bay Street to access Nathan Phillips Square. See map for location.

Wheel-Trans

The Hagerman Street entrance (north entrance) is the Wheel-Trans pick-up and drop-off location.

The design competition began eight weeks ago with an intensive all day session, where we discussed the challenges of the site and reviewed seven design elements that were identified as critical components for the design proposals – an iconic and welcoming ferry terminal, continuous waterfront access, improved queuing area, an enhanced Harbour Square Park, connections between the terminal and the rest of the city, promote sustainable development and provide universal access.
