We’re Having a Party at Corktown Common!

On July 10, Waterfront Toronto and its development partners in the West Don Lands – River City’s Urban Capital and the Canary District’s Dundee Kilmer – are throwing a community picnic at Corktown Common, and you’re invited!

As part of the official opening celebration we’d like you to join us for an evening of community fun. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and hang out in the park with your friends and family while enjoying a free BBQ, fun food and activities for the kids, live music and all of the spectacular amenities Corktown Common offers. Food and entertainment generously provided by Dundee Kilmer and Urban Capital.

As the signature park in the West Don Lands, Corktown Common is a key component of the revitalization of the area. It’s helping to transform the former industrial lands into a beautiful, sustainable, mixed-use riverside community.

Located within walking distance of downtown Toronto, Corktown Common has attracted visitors from neighbouring communities and beyond. It has added a unique and inviting sense of wilderness in the heart of the West Don Lands, providing a beautiful and inspiring public space that offers residents and visitors a rich range of experiences. 

With spectacular views of the city skyline, a fun splash, extensive playgrounds, stunning pavilion, meandering trails and large marsh, there is literally something for everyone to enjoy in this beautiful new public park.

Not within walking distance?  No problem!  We’re offering a complimentary accessible shuttle service and free Bike Valet bike parking. Continuous accessible shuttle service to and from the party will be available from 4:45pm until 8:15pm from the southwest corner of Mill Street and Trinity Street, in front of the main gates to the Distillery District. Bike Valet parking will be provided south of Underpass Park adjacent to Lawren Harris Square. So load up your friends, family and picnic gear and join us for a great evening of summer fun in Toronto’s newest waterfront park!

Corktown Common is already one of Toronto’s destination parks and has inspired Friends of Corktown Common, a group established in 2013 by local community members to help preserve and promote the park and its recreational and cultural opportunities. Visit Friends of Corktown Common’s booth at the picnic to learn about their work and how to join.

Where:

Corktown Common is located at the foot of Bayview Avenue at Lower River Street. The event will be held at the pavilion and on the central lawn. You can access the park from Bayview Avenue at Lower River Street or from the Don Valley Trail at the Bala Underpass. Please note that until the eastern portion of the park is complete the entrance from the Bala Underpass is only accessible by staircase.

Getting here:

Public Transit: Please see the TTC’s diversion notice for route details.The 501 Queen streetcar is diverting between Parliament Street and Coxwell Avenue. 501 Queen shuttle buses will make stops at River Street – both eastbound and westbound. Walk south on River/Lower River Street, past Lawren Harris Square to Bayview Avenue. The park entrance is on the east side of Bayview Avenue.

Parking: There is very limited street parking in the area. Park in one of the local “P” lots, then head to the southwest corner of Mill Street and Trinity Street, and jump on our shuttle in front of the main gates to the Distillery District. Continuous two-way service to and from the party will be available from 4:45pm until 8:15pm.

Cycling: We’re providing complimentary Bike Valet parking. So, ride your bike, sign in, get your numbered parking tag, and go have fun. When you’re ready to leave, just present your tag to reclaim your bike.
