Collecting and analyzing a building's energy consumption data will help us make better decisions about how to build and manage greener, more energy-efficient buildings.

Buildings are responsible for a majority of our energy use and a majority of our greenhouse gas emissions in developed parts of the world. In the City of Toronto, for example, residential, commercial and industrial buildings accounted for 61% of greenhouse gas emissions in 2007.

Winning Name Announced for New Waterfront Street

In March and April, we ran a contest to let YOU name a new waterfront street in the new Bayside Toronto community. Over 700 names were suggested and more than 2,000 people voted to select the winning name.

May 5, 2014, Toronto, ON—The votes are in and Merchants' Wharf has topped the list for the new waterfront street name in East Bayfront. The winning name – which commemorates an old shipping wharf located at the foot of Lower Sherbourne Street – received the most votes during our ‘Help Name a Waterfront Street’ online contest.

Shortlist announced and voting begins for new waterfront street name

April 22, 2014, Toronto, ON—We’re one step closer to choosing a new waterfront street name – but we still need your help. From now through May 1, vote for your favourite street name from our list of seven shortlisted names.

The shortlisted names – which were selected from the almost seven hundred suggestions we received – are:

Water’s Edge Promenade Named One of Canada’s Best Landscape Architecture Projects

March 6, 2014, Toronto, ON— The Water’s Edge Promenade in East Bayfront has received a National Merit Award from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA).

The CSLA Awards of Excellence recognize the best in Canadian landscape architecture. According to the CSLA, this year’s award-winning projects are “a reminder that great design helps build great communities.”

Waterfront Toronto receives accolades for its innovation and leadership in sustainability

November 8, 2013, Toronto, ON—Waterfront Toronto’s projects and sustainability initiatives have recently been honoured with three prestigious sustainability awards. The Canada Green Building Council, BLOOM and Clean50 have all recognized Waterfront Toronto for various aspects of its leadership and innovation in the area of sustainability.
