Media Advisory Official Start of Construction at Underpass Park

May 25, 2011, Toronto, ON— Waterfront Toronto together with the Government of Canada, Province of Ontario and City of Toronto will officially start construction of Underpass Park on Thursday, May 26.

Underpass Park is the most extensive park to ever be built under an overpass in Canada, and the first of its kind in Toronto. The unique urban park is transforming the derelict space beneath the Eastern Avenue, Richmond and Adelaide overpasses into a bright and welcoming neighbourhood amenity and a key public space in the West Don Lands community.

April 19, 2011, TORONTO, ON – Infrastructure Ontario released a request for qualifications (RFQ) today to qualify non-profit housing corporations to participate in a request for proposals to own and operate affordable rental housing buildings being developed as part of the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Athletes’ Village in the West Don Lands.

Waterfront Toronto Selects Five Developers to Bid on West Don Lands Development

TORONTO, September 26, 2007 - Waterfront Toronto today announced that five development teams have been selected to bid on the construction of 850 units of housing in the West Don Lands, the first new neighbourhood to be developed as part of waterfront revitalization.

Waterfront Toronto short-listed the five teams through a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) that was issued in June and to which 18 developers responded. The five short-listed teams are:

Toronto, June 25, 2007 – Federal Environment Minister John Baird, Ontario Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal David Caplan and Toronto Mayor David Miller today launched the start of construction of both a flood protection berm and the Don River Park in the West Don Lands, the first new community to be developed as part of waterfront revitalization.
