Two Waterfront Toronto projects win Toronto Urban Design Awards

Toronto, September 22, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto’s Spadina WaveDeck and Master Plan for Lake Ontario Park have each been awarded 2009 Toronto Urban Design Awards. Spadina WaveDeck earned an Award of Excellence in the Small Open Space category and the Master Plan for Lake Ontario Park was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Vision and Masterplan category.

Spadina WaveDeck Wins Another Prestigious Award

 

Toronto, May 5, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto’s Spadina WaveDeck has received another prestigious design award, this time from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). The Spadina WaveDeck earned a 2009 Honor Award from the ASLA in its General Design category and was one of two Toronto waterfront projects honoured this year.

 

Each year, the ASLA honours the best in landscape architecture and urban design from around the globe. The 2009 competition featured over 600 entries from around the world.

Lake Ontario Park Plan and the Spadina WaveDeck win prestigious awards from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects

Toronto, March 2, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto’s Master Plan for Lake Ontario Park and Spadina WaveDeck have received two National Awards from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA). The Master Plan for Lake Ontario Park was awarded the CSLA’s highest prize, a National Honour Award and the Spadina WaveDeck earned a National Merit Award.

 

The CSLA Professional Awards Programme recognizes and promotes excellence in all aspects of landscape design. This year’s competition included 56 projects in seven categories.

 

Waterfront Toronto Completes Construction of New Aquatic Habitat at Spadina Head of Slip

Toronto, April 08, 2008 - Waterfront Toronto today announced the completion of 2500 square metres of new habitat as part of the construction of the new public space at Spadina Head of Slip. This initiative achieves a key goal of Waterfront Toronto’s Central Waterfront Master Plan which was selected through an international design competition in 2006. The winning design by West 8+DTAH featured new fish habitat throughout the waterfront and considers restoration of marine ecology as integral to creating a living ecologically sustainable system in Toronto’s Inner Harbour.

Toronto, November 30, 2007 – Federal Environment Minister John Baird, Ontario Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal David Caplan, Toronto Mayor David Miller and Waterfront Toronto Chair Mark Wilson today launched the start of construction of Phase One revitalization of Toronto’s central waterfront.
