Redpath Waterfront Festival

June 19, 2012, Toronto, ON—This year’s Redpath Waterfront Festival is bringing music, art, culture and cuisine to a variety of waterfront locations including Canada’s Sugar Beach. Headlining the event is ‘Saltscapes’ a celebration of east coast culture at HTO Park East.  At Harbour Quay, the area is being transported into an interactive old port settlement called ‘The Wharf at York’ with sail makers, weavers, musicians and more. The festival will utilize Canada’s Sugar Beach for live music, a beach barbeque and a unique lightshow where a fountain display during the day becomes a multimedia water theatre at night.

Canada’s Sugar Beach, which includes a plaza, tree-lined promenade and urban beach, is a perfect venue for summer festivals. The plaza’s large granite rock outcroppings and grassy mounds create  dynamic amphitheatre-style performance and event spaces with natural seating overlooking the lake.  The promenade brings visitors from Queens Quay through the park to its playful splash pad by the lake and the beginning of East Bayfront’s water’s edge promenade. At the beach, festival-goers can take in spectacular views of the harbour or simply relax on a Muskoka chair under one of the park’s signature pink umbrellas.

The Redpath Waterfront Festival opens on Thursday, June 21 and runs all-weekend long until Sunday, June 24. Admission is free with a variety of events planned each day and into the evening.  Learn more about all the events and the festival schedule at www.towaterfrontfest.com.
