Sherbourne Park Pavilion Honoured for Architectural Design Excellence

Toronto, December 17, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto’s striking Sherbourne Park Pavilion, designed by Teeple Architects Inc., has received an Award of Merit from the 2009 Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence.  This marks the first time that a building commissioned by Waterfront Toronto has been honoured for excellence in architecture. The organization has already won more than 25 awards for urban planning and landscape architecture.

 

Construction of Toronto's Newest Waterfront Park Begins

Toronto, July 23, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto, together with the Governments of Canada and Ontario and City of Toronto, officially broke ground today on Sherbourne Park, a spectacular new waterfront park that will transform a formerly industrial area into much needed public greenspace on the lake.

 

Located just east of Lower Sherbourne Street, this 1.5 hectare park spans more than two city blocks, from Lake Ontario in the south to Lake Shore Blvd. in the north, on both sides of Queens Quay.

 

Announcement of New George Brown College Campus Latest Waterfront Toronto Revitalization Milestone

 

Toronto, July 8, 2008 – George Brown College will help revitalize Toronto’s waterfront with a new state-of-the art campus, announced Waterfront Toronto, the agency responsible for transforming the city’s lakefront.

 

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Ontario Minister of Energy and Infrastructure George Smitherman, and Toronto Mayor David Miller, joined Waterfront Toronto and George Brown College officials in making the announcement.

 

East Bayfront Revitalization Begins

Waterfront Toronto Short-Lists Developers to Bid on East Bayfront

 

TORONTO, June 19, 2008 – Waterfront Toronto today announced the short-listed development teams to bid on two mixed-use development parcels in East Bayfront, a vibrant new waterfront community steps from Toronto’s downtown core.

 

Teams were short-listed through two Requests for Qualifications (RFQ’s) issued March 14, 2008. 25 submissions were received.

Toronto, March 7, 2008 - As part of the multi-billion dollar revitalization project to create a new, showcase mixed-use community on Toronto’s waterfront and surrounding areas, Waterfront Toronto, the organization established to oversee and lead waterfront renewal in the city announced today that it is seeking development partners for its East Bayfront initiative, one of the key sites in the revitalization of Toronto’s waterfront.
