Last Thursday, July 10, was a beautiful, sunny day with a gentle breeze – a perfect day for a celebration! Joined by hundreds of people of all ages we officially opened Corktown Common, Waterfront Toronto’s spectacular new park in the emerging West Don Lands, with two memorable events.

Waterfront Toronto receives prestigious leadership award for sustainable community development

February 13, 2014, Toronto, ON - Corktown Common, Waterfront Toronto’s signature new park in the emerging West Don Lands, has been awarded the 2014 FCM Sustainable Communities Award in the neighbourhood development category. The award recognizes Corktown Common for its innovation and contribution to sustainable community development.

Corktown Common, Toronto's latest waterfront park, to open June 28

June 26, 2013, Toronto, ON—Corktown Common, Waterfront Toronto’s newly named park in the West Don Lands, will open to the public on June 28. A key component of the revitalization of the area, Corktown Common is destined to become the heart of this emerging new waterfront community.

Great parks and public spaces are a vital part of the renewal of Toronto’s waterfront. Since 2004, Waterfront Toronto has opened 20 new or improved parks or public spaces.

Winning Name Announced for Toronto's Newest Waterfront Park

May 22, 2013, Toronto, ON—Votes have been tallied and Corktown Common is the winning name chosen by the public for the signature new park in the West Don Lands. Name That Park, an online naming contest sponsored by Waterfront Toronto and The Grid, invited the public to submit their ideas for a new park name, and then vote for their favourite.

May 15, 2013, Toronto, ON— Voting to select the name of Toronto’s newest waterfront park, currently known as Don River Park, will continue until 11:59 pm on Friday, May 17, 2013.

Of more than 440 suggestions made by the public, participants can select from a list of five final names. Vote to select your favourite from the list of names below:
